The novel follows Judith’s path of hardship, as she emigrates to Brazil from Palestine at the end of World War I.  Using literary delicacy, without sacrificing historical rigour, Adriana Armony presents three distinctive moments in Judith’s life – first as a young girl living in Palestine, and later in Além Paraíba, a town in the Brazilian State of Minas Gerais near the border with Rio de Janeiro State, where we find her struggling with children of her own, her Jewish Palestinian husband, and a forbidden Brazilian affair of the heart.  The third and final part of the novel takes the reader back to the opening pages, to a Judith now elderly, widowed and ill, living her last days in Rio de Janeiro City.  Judith in the Future Land speaks of the human strength to survive and adapt to radically new realities.
